2012 AMIS HS Jazz Festival and Workshop

Although I did not have any students from my new school (IST) participate in the festival, I did have two from the school I had just left (ISKL) which was the host for this year’s event. Even better, I was invited to be the guest director of the vocal jazz ensemble for the 2nd year in a row. It was great working with such talented students and returning to a place I called home for 9 years.

During spring break about fifty students traveled to Athens to be guest performers on a five day cruise. There was a choir, band, and string ensemble performing music of various repertoires.

ISKL had one student audition and be accepted as part of the AMIS Honor Choir Festival which was hosted at the American School of the Hague. Furthermore Chris, a tenor, was selected to sing a solo in the final concert of the festival, albeit as a soprano! A great cultural opportunity for him as he sets out t0 college majoring in music.

As the Choir Guest Conductor for this festival I had the opportunity to work with students from many schools throughout Kuala Lumpur. A total of approximately 500 students came together to make beautiful music in either the choir or the band.
2008 Spring Break Tour to Italy
Visiting Milan, Venice, Florence, Pisa and Rome, ISKL came in full force for a quick trip through Italy. Everyone loved the pizza, pasta and gelato, but the best times were through the music we shared with the Italians.
